Unit 17 is thrilled to announce The Neighbour’s Plate, a group exhibition of artworks by Derya Akay, Amna Elnour and Dana Qaddah.
The exhibition consists of a collaborative installation, poster and food projects initiated throughout the course of the exhibition.

Derya Akay (b. 1988) is an artist living in Vancouver. Selected solo exhibitions include with bread,, Campbell River Art Gallery, 2017; Pumice, Del Vaz Projects, Los Angeles, 2017; Painting with Light, Kunstverein Toronto, 2015 and Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Supper, Centre A, Vancouver, 2014. Selected group exhibitions include The Lulennial II: A Low-Hanging Fruit, Lulu, Mexico City, 2018; HERE, Aga Khan Museum, Toronto, 2017 and Ambivalent Pleasures, Vancouver Art Gallery, 2016. Akay will present a solo exhibition at Polygon Gallery (North Vancouver) in May 2021.
Amna Elnour (b. 1994) is an artist and writer who was most recently based in the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam nations. Her practice explores relations among the ephemeral, shapeshifting, and the effects of deterritorialization. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia. She has hosted a PDF based book club at Duplex, and contributed to NuZi Collective’s Wrong Wave zine, as well as participated in the group exhibitions Now Now Wow at the Audain Art Centre and Body Body Party Party at The Hatch Gallery (all Vancouver). Upcoming projects include Tip of Your Tongue, a conceptual cook book combining recipes with lyrical prose and poetry, and a contribution to UNIT/PITT’s upcoming quarantine cookbook.
Dana Qaddah (b. Beirut, Lebanon) is an interdisciplinary artist and organizer whose practice is contextualized by themes of building from, and through, colonial legacies, environmental and economic deterioration, and abstraction from one’s own sense of self and place.
